central locking module

central locking operating at random whilst driving
i know i will need to dig into the wiring by the doors to find fault
tried removing fuse 33 5 amp  and central locking no longer works on key but still activates flashers whilst driving
is there anyway to disconnect the module itself till i have the time to go fault finding
car is mark 2 1.9 tdi ghia

Have you had a check of the usual suspects? Wiring in doors and tailgate for shorting across circuits?

Seems odd the flashers still go with central locking fuse out? I don't Think you can unplug module as if memory serves correctly it is integrated in to the fuse box?

just out of hospital so didnt want to start on the wires yet was just hoping for a bodge to keep the wife on the road for a week or two
i assume  i have a central locking wire shorting out to a live wire to another area
may have to try pulling out a few fuses car can run without and see if that will help

I had weird CL and alarms going ons last year after some welding,
turned out it was the wiring loom that runs along the passenger inner sill, a junction of 5 wires that run into one.
I found this after of course fitting a whole new fuse tray haha.

The fuse for the hazards should disable your indicators.

dont want to really pull that fuse as driving with no indicators would be as risky as driving with them all going off

I"d pull the carpet and a bit of trim and have a quick look at the passenger loom.

If it is the loom you could have it bodged and back together again in an hour.

thanks for the suggestion but had a kidney removed last week so an hour crawling around the car is not on at the moment
read around a few places and found another fuse to pull and on first drive looks promising
initially pulled fuse  32 and have now pulled 19 according to haynes book
just need to see what has stopped working now

According to this list pulling 19 you should have lost engine ecu on diesel?
And 32 there are quite a few systems lost.

haynes has 33  as front heater blower only
19 central locking park assist audio diagnostics automatic temp control and instr cluster
