vw sharan oil specification question oil requirements 506.01 stated on the car is this the correct oil Quantum Longlife 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 504.00  /507.00

Go for 505.01; fixed interval services.
I've always done change every 6 months on the PD engines anyways but you can get the longer service life (2 years/30,000Km)

504.00 is petrol only from what I remember & 507.00 is the newer Diesel oil for VW's standards.

So you can use;
- 505.01 if regularly serviced. (Fixed Interval.)
- 506.01 if longer time between services 30k/km OR 2 years. (Extended service interval (also for fixed interval!))
- 507.00 if used with extended service interval.

I've bought the Triple-QX from Europarts;
TRIPLE QX Fully Synthetic (For PD engines) Engine Oil - 5W-40 - 5ltr

And I've bought Petronas 505.01 spec and there was virtually no difference in metals or wear after 6 months.

So;
It also depends on your budget!

I've also used the Petronas 5/40 PD oil in the Touran for the past few changes and will use it again for the next (imminent) change, Euro have usually got some kind of 25-30% off offer going too so it's only around 20 odd quid, it is however only a 4 litre container though!

It'll be fine, I guess.
I'd still prefer a 505.01 spec oil myself.

i been to vw they have a offer on the QUANTUM Longlife III 5W-30 for  Ã,£25 they recommended this so for the sake of ordering off ebay because  you don't know what your getting off here i bought it it off them .thanks for the reply
