I'm considering installing a dash cam, maybe a Nextbase. I will hard wire it myself with a kit which has some kind of fuse thingy (have not seen it yet) to piggy back with another fuse which will provide power with ignition. Has any members any experience with said dash cam, wiring kit or which fuse to spur from? Thanks.

No personal experience but nextbase are supposed to be decent I have heard. As for picking up a feed I would tap in to radio if it was me as wiring for that is easy to access and plenty of slack to strip a bit back and solder to. Wouldn't bother with extra fuse though as ignition supply to radio will be fused so no need for extra.

Apparently, what the kit includes is a fuse adaptor so you locate a fuse in your fusebox, remove that fuse, plug in the adaptor and plug the removed fuse back into the adaptor. Sounds easy. Too easy???

Oh right ok sounds easy if access to fuse box is ok for the dash cam wiring. If it is easy to get the wiring in to the fuse box I would go with the radio circuit still just make sure you pick the ignition feed one. My thinking for radio feed is if there is a fault with wiring ( unlikely) then it would not affect driving of the car.

Thanks for the replies johnnyroper, it all counts! ;)

I have 2 nextbase 312g ,one in car and one for work
Great cams great pic quality and with this modelyou can view vids on phone if you want.
Hardwired using kit cant recall what fuse but went for switched live in fusebox near the door.
Just tuck wire under rubber seal and poke it behind headlining . Id start from camera first then you can just cabletie excess together and leave in fusebox
They were about 90quid in halfords, yes cheaper online but u can take it back to shop if need be.
Its a good idea to make sure you have latest firmware via nextbase website

Just seen you are non UK so halfords probaly wont be much help😀

I've just installed a Nextbase 312g in my 2014 Galaxy. Fuse 7 in the central fuse box provides swithe power - comes on when you unlock the car and goes off 10-20 minutes after its locked.
