Hi,Iv had a look on the pinned thread regarding the adjustable head lights not working, but I'm wondering if it's for the manually or the auto leavaling, basically mine are the manual ones that don't work, the garage that I bought the car from say that ford don't make them anymore(VW part 🙄)and they arnt sold as an aftermarket part,he's also trying to say that as it's an option part it's not part of the MOT that they work,a quick search with the part number on the pinned thread shows results on an on line auction site,I just want to be sure the part number is the part to fix manual ones,it's for a 2004 1.9tdi.
Thanks

I take it you are referring to the in cabin controlled levelling? If so it is a standard vw motor that controls it and most likely the motors are at fault. Both of mine were knackered as they are a fairly common problem.

Hi yes it is the ones adjusted in the cabin, did you replace just the motors or the whole unit?

Did you mean this thread? It looks like both manual (standard halogen lamps) and auto levelling (xenon discharge lamps) systems use these motors, just that they adjust automatically on vehicles with discharge lamps. I'd be surprised if you can't buy them from Ford anymore, but even if not VW will still sell them. You may be able to resurrect yours by cleaning them as per the linked article though.

Hi yes that's the link,so the part number it gives works for both std non zenon and zenon head lights and self levelling and manual levelling?
I'm trying to give the garage no reason not to replace them,if this ends up futile I will strip and give what the link shows a go.

Yes, the quoted part number is correct for manually adjusted headlamps- below is a picture of an adjuster motor that I removed from a standard halogen headlamp unit.

That's the motors I got both my replacements from paul and they worked a treat, you can try a repair as per the thread in reference library but that did not get mine working.
If you get both motors it's not a bad job to change allow about an hour to do both sides.
Very common part on a lot of vw so shouldn't be too hard to get hold of.

Thanks guys for the quick and helpful replys, where is the best and most reliable place to order the units from? I can then advise the garage where to obtain them from.

Perhaps @Mirez has a couple he can sell you? ;) The two I had spare I've already sold unfortunately.

I didn't get mine from this eBay seller, but looked up the vw part number on eBay when I bought mine about 5 years ago. VW Group part number is 1J0 941 295A.
