Hi all, I have a 2012 galaxy titanium, it has factory fitted dvd player (under n/s/f seat) along with screens in the headrests. DVD player or screens dont appear to have any power, going by the manual, the fuse for this is in the rear fuse box (Fuse FC8 Rear seat entertainment/CD Changer) but there is no fuse at this location. Anyone familiar with this setup ? before I just start pulling all the fuses out and checking them

Thanks in advance

Has it ever worked?

What about using multi meter to see if output from the missing fuse is for the DVD? Just put one lead in the side of fuse without power and the other at DVD player plug to see if it's same wire?

Thanks, Only bought the car and haven't put it on the road yet as there is a couple wee dents i want to get sorted first. I am back on shift at work for the next three days, I will check for power at it on Sunday

Ok, only getting round to having a look at the car, I take it that the car was hit before and they have changed the front seats to ones with dvd player and screens fitted, as the car isnt wired for them :-/

I cant see a handy way of getting these to go ?

So there is no wiring for the screens,is there wiring for the DVD player under seat?

Under the passenger front seat, there is dvd player, into that there is a small loom, which goes to two connectors, one that is going to the screen on that seat, and another connection, which must be for the power etc. On the drivers seat, there is the wiring coming down from the screen to one connector. on both connectors, there are about 16 wires so I'm sure its not just a case of connecting a live and an earth type thing lol

this is the connector that is on both seats

I think you need to try and obtain some circuit drawings to investigate further,I can't see it has had seats with screens fitted when it didn't have them from build. Especially as it seems to have the DVD player and wiring in place, something else must be wrong with it but not being familiar with the mark3 system I wouldn't know what.

The car was damaged previously so I am thinking the airbags on the seats were deployed and whoever repaired it fitted seats from a car breakers or whatever and they just happen to have the dvd and screens attached....

But you also have the DVD under the seat and some wiring unless that comes with the seat aswell?
Either way it sounds like you have the components so hopefully should just be a case of obtaining circuit drawings to wire it in?

Yes, I have the DVD player and both screens in the headrests, also the wee loom under passengers seat, I have a wiring diagram that I got from a pal in local ford garage but not only does it have earth/power, it is also connected to canbus . Seems a lot of work ?

Are you able to determine if your cars loom has the wiring in it for DVD? It could be as simple as finding a plug taped up in loom and plugging it in?

Pulled the seat out and pulled carpet back a bit but couldn't see any bits of loom tucked away, got fed up and went back into house, I'll get another look at it today/tomorrow.

Pulled carpet/panels back, no additional bits of loom tucked away, can this be wired up or too much hassle ?

Quick update, took it to a pal of mine who is clued up with wiring etc, he looked at it and said he can sort it no problem, so I left the car with him, he is gonna have a bash at it on Sunday.

Anyone know if any wireless headphones will work with this setup or do I need specific ones ?

another update, got car back with dvd player and passenger screen working. I will have to get a look at the other screen myself when i get time. Any info on the wireless headphones now ?

Thanks

There are at least three "wireless" headphone systems that I know of.  The first, ancient technology, uses IR.  Probably not that.  The second uses Bluetooth.  The headphones will need bonding to the output but any sort should work.  There should be something in the manual about setting up if that's the case.

Another sort would be proper wireless radio wave ones.  The possibilities here are legion: it may require specific (not just specific type) headphones; it may require specific type but they may need to be bonded as per the Bluetooth; it may work with anything.

You need to do some googling to find out which option you have and see if there's an online manual for the system.

http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O9655&languageCode=en&marketCode=GB&viewTech=IE&chapterTitleSelected=G953717&subTitleSelected=G953718&topicHRef=G953738&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=True

2006, it was using IR headphones.  I can't imagine it was still doing so in 2012 but you may want to browse that manual and see if your system is the same.  If so, ebay/gumtree is going to be your best source, I would think.
