timing belt change (and auto box question)

Just bought a 2012 automatic galaxy, last car was a 2007 manual galaxy (both 2.0 tdci)

Just a couple of questions, timing belt, whats the recommended mileage for changing belt and water pump ? I think i did last galaxy at 100k, the galaxy we bought now has 78k on it.

Regarding the auto gearbox, its power shift. I want to change the auto gearbox oil and filter, is there a link to the proper way to change it ?

I want to change the oil and filter in the gearbox as i noticed the other day, there was what felt like 'clutch judder' when i was moving away, not sure if this will fix it but it wont do any harm either

Personally if it was recommended 100k I would expect 10 year time interval also. Personally I would t let it go more than 70k or 7 years for peace of mind. Also check if it has the 2nd cassette belt or chain if it's belt then have that done also and change all rollers,tensioners and water pump if its timing belt driven.

No idea about changing the power shift oil and filter all I know is the oil is expensive.

Rang a pal of mine that deals with a ford garage, ordered timing belt kit including water pump etc, think he said it was about Ã,£100, and Ã,£120 for the gearbox kit

He must be getting trade prices....

Powershift oil needs changing @37,000miles.  You should check that it has been done at least once before.

I have been ordering parts from GSF recently as they keep sending me voucher codes for 48 to 50% of there online prices, this makes a substantial difference.

Yeh I am a mechanic and get decent discount, anywhere i can get the correct instructions for the gearbox oil and filter change ?

Back again with a question, The galaxy still has what feels like a clutch judder, I have been chatting to a few different people and some of them reckon that the galaxy with power shift auto box still has something that resembles a dual mass flywheel on a manual car ?? Is this correct or is this judder being caused by something more sinister ?

ps During normal driving you don't really notice it, It is mainly when taking off sharpish from slow speeds


No, lower gearbox mounting, the rubber is badly perished, I will get that changed this week and report back.

edit, going away with caravan this week so might be next week :)

I mention mounts, as my old A4-B6 130 rear box mount used to rattle like hell when it was perished or ready to bust/snap due to the power going through it (246.7bhp at wheels) & it had the same sort of noise at certain revs.

The rumour is possibly my fault, as I noticed that the parts list includes something labelled as a DMF and there was quite a discussion about it on another forum.  It isn't one, though.

From your description of the signs and the worn mount, that would be my first port of call.  Time to start worrying if it's still there when the mount has been changed.
