Hi all

A dumb question for a first timer but I'm trying to access my starter to see if there is an obvious problem. Intermittent non-starting problem. Not even a click when I turn the key. Other times, she starts easily.

If memory serves correctly it is above gearbox below the battery and tray, probably easier to gain access with the battery and tray removed?
Have a check of the battery fuse box wiring and connections first though as could be the common overheating problem.

It is in the general area underneath the battery tray but I would say the best access would be from underneath with the engine undertray removed. As above though worth having a check first for dodgy/ corroded electrical connections, though it's possible the solenoid on the starter is sticking intermittently. Also, it needs somebody else to chime in here on the following question but does the immobiliser inhibit cranking of the engine or would it crank but just not fire? Is the led in the drivers door flashing at all when it refuses to crank?
