Hi, I've been told the above symptoms are to do with the cabin heating system. Steam escapes from pipework just in front of the n/s rear wheel (52-reg Galaxy Zetec manual diesel) for the first few miles in the morning, started last week. Any help with this greatly appreciated!

Hello and  [W4]

Have a read of the information sheet
https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/reference-library/galaxy-mk2-auxiliary-booster-heater-guide/?action=dlattach;attach=197
You may need to replace the glow plug & gauze there should only be a puff of smoke on start up and be clear by the time heater has reached full speed.
try to avoid turning engine off till engine has reached operating temperature as this reduces life of the glow plug.

Hallo, thanks for your reply. However, what glow plug are you referring to? The engine starts fine and the steam is being blown out of a thin pipe (around 2cm dia) in front of the rear wheel. It's not coming from the exhaust. The chap who told me it's to do with the aux cabin heater was sure about it and said he was an ex Ford apprentice.

The glowplug is in the aux heater and its not steam but smoke from unburnt diesel. Read the PDF chris gave you as its all explained in there.
