Hi all need help eml on on so had faults codes read, came up with p0346, p10340 and p1049 obviously the first two codes indicate camshaft sensor fault so renewed them with some lemark ones off fleebay,
eml light went out but ten minutes later back on, has anyone got any idea on what else can be wrong?
Car runs fine except slight misfire and starts all the time.
Anyone please help, sited in the midlands

With those codes I would be looking at the camshaft adjustment valve (n318 I think it is)and or wiring along with having the timing checked to make sure it is spot on.

Many thanks will do, also when I replaced the sensors I disconnected the battery before so,
Do I still need the codes deleted by vag or vcds to stop eml light coming back on?
Thanks again

Usually if the battery has been off the ecu will reset if faults are rectified, normally if fault is fixed the light will self reset after so many trouble free ignition cycles aswell.

Where are you located there might be a forum member close by to run vcds for you if don't have yourself.

I am based in Dudley in the midlands just outside brum if you know anyone local
Thanxs

I am from Brum but don't live there anymore,I do get up there from time to time. Popping up on Friday 30th if you want me to plug laptop in on way to get my daughter?

That would be brill thanks, unfortunately I'm going away on that day at 12.
If you can make it before, I would be grateful but if not maybe we could organise something for the new year?
Many thanks

It will probably be before 12 when I get up there,pm me your number and I will drop you a text.

What sort of mileage are you on? Its not unknown for the V6 to stretch its timing belt which has the same symptoms that you are describing. Any clattery noises etc on startup?

Its only about 95,000 and its a timing chain on the v6, no clatters as I have noticed

Sorry I meant chain - I'm so used to typing belt after 'timing' lol.

Sadly the V6 engine is prone to them stretching around the 100K mile mark with the first indication being the management light on, followed by the clattering at idle followed by the stretched chain slipping and killing the engine :( The misfire is also characteristic as the fuel pump is driven off the  chain.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news but on the plus, at least its giving you the warning! Some just get the slipped chain :(

When you see Johnny, get him to read measuring blocks 208 and 209 on the engine. Look at "Idle stabilision", a new chain will be +/- 3 degrees where a stretched one will be nearer 8 degrees with anything higher then 8 being on borrowed time :(

Sounds like best to avoid driving it until cam chain condition has been verified.
