Evening all, tomorrows Challenge my friends 2003 115 6speed mk2 has been running very lumpy for the last day of so like it's dropping on to 3, so yesterday I got the text to say it has died an won't start agin, will be going to recover it at some point this week but anything common I should be looking out for? Obviously will be plugging my trusty little OBD reader in an see what she tells me,

Thanks in advance for any pointers Cheers Rob

Hey Rob, could be the old injector wiring loom breaking down.

Well got it towed in last night, injector 1 seems to be at fault p1666 injector/electrical fault and P0301 cylinder misfire detected (as you would expect!)

I would deffo start with the wiring loom then :) I can honestly say I've never seen an injector failure on the PD engine.

Hi I know when my injector wiring harness failed It seems to usually be cylinder 1. Its cheapest from VW dealer rather than Ford.

Well removed the injector loom, tested  all wires and connectors all 0 ohms resistance, checked all injectors 0 ohms, so got the trusty Wurth terminal cleared out clean all connectors refitted loom, engine flush an fresh oil an filter, done about 400 miles since an never missed a beat!

Hi, Glad it seems to be running fine, I hope it continues. The problem with these looms doesn't seem to be breaks in the wiring so they will always show continuity, but rather the spade connectors that connects to the injectors. For some reason they seem to open up and become loose on the injector spade. Although you can crimp them tighter, they seem to come loose again. If it happens again replace the loom.

Cheers steveo59 yea if it goes agin new loom it is!
