hiya, new to this..... i have a VW sharan 1998, manual, 1.9 Diesel.... the drivers side door wireing loom was broken by the door connector, so we removed and fixed as i have an previous cars, but the fix hasnt worked as its more perished than we anticiapted, now the wireing loom needs replacing (no other option).....

I have a ford galaxy 2002 we have been using for parts in the garden, but the loom is different..... any ideas on what car i can take the part from if not from a same year sharan...? as i have a brakers yard near by....  only car similar in stock is a 1999 ford galaxy 1.9 diesel......  would that help?

any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Hi Ricky, a 1998 is a Mk1 and a 2002 is a Mk2 which is why the looms are different. The 99 Galaxy is likely to be a Mk1 as well so thats the one you want to try for.

If the spec levels are similar then that loom should work without modification.

You may well find a 98 plate galaxy door loom could be as bad as yours. Have you thought about soldering in extra lengths of new wire.

do what I did cut back the old wiring as far as good bits then solder in new wire make sure to use correct colours and insulate with heatshrink sleeving

Ford Galaxy 2.3 mk2 2003 --

wow just remebered about the  post here.

sorry for no replys.

i hacked apart one from a galaxy from a brekers yard and replaced all the cables, with same colours and used shrink tube etc.  was a pain, but much worth it.

this seems to be a common issue for many people, affecting central locking, windows etc.

thanks for the help  guys =]
