A/c drier location?

Hi,
Is this found in the drivers side front wheel area and does it need replacing as a service item if changing the condenser with the receiver driver built in to it?

If it's for a mark 2 then the receiver drier is a cartridge in side of condenser. Can be changed on its own if condenser not damaged or comes as part of the condenser.

I have a 2003 1.9 TDI (mk2)

I am changing the condenser with the drier built in like this one

Do I need any extra tools to release air con pipes string clips?

Not sure about tools for pipes as not had dealings with anything other than bolted joints on mine.

No you will not need that receiver drier as yours is built in to the condenser. I assume that part is for a mark1?

Thanks for replies, did seem odd having two driers, condenser drier combined from car parts for less it is then.

found out low pressure pipe has Spring clips so this seems to be the tool needed...

Yellow one seems to be that works for galaxy's so I read

I've read the links on here about the changing of condenser etc just got to order up and dive in (tool, o rings and pag 46 oil, pipe and condenser drier with change from Ã,£150 seems good to me)

That's not a bad price considering drier cartridge alone is Ã,£30-40 if memory serves correctly.

Before you fit the condenser take off the plastic cover over drier and smear some grease around top of cap,hopefully it will stop the corrosion happening so will be easier to remove drier in future if need arises.

Anything like Vaseline ok for the drier cap?  Or other suggestions?

The condenser drier is an EIS part for Ã,£62.20, (may be less if I can get s car parts for less valid discount code) seeing as it's recommended to change it every 2years cheap will be ok...

I've managed to fix other stuff on this car, I will not be defeated after a sweaty summer in it!!!

Yes anything like that will do to prevent the ingress of water.

Know what you mean mine was not the best it worked but was weak. Changed drier and had regassed due to not enough refrigerant in system,works well know.
