Hi All,

Does anyone know if the front wiring loom for the doors can fit either side on a mk2 without rear electric windows? Passenger side wiring available on eBay but drivers side in short supply. I have repaired wiring but split the boot to a point that's not repairable. Any ideas to make the joint weather proof by other means. Thanks.

No, the wiring looms will not be the same as the drivers side loom has additional connections for the immobiliser LED, mirror adjusters (if fitted), dual control for the electric windows (switch to control the passenger side window in addition to drivers) etc. The pin layout for the systems common to both sides may be the same but that's a pretty big gamble and not one I'd want to take.

You can buy an aftermarket connector / gaiter assembly which you simply crimp to your existing wiring loom by chopping the old connector off- see here. Unfortunately they're still damn expensive for what they are really, and I couldn't find anybody else in this country selling 'em for less. If you can't find a better condition secondhand loom in a breakers to repair (which will be easier to do with it removed from the vehicle anyway) then it's always an option if you can live with the price.......
