Problem with auto gearbox, jumping out of gear!

Hi everyone! I've got a problem with the Galaxy autobox but not like anything else I've read on the various forums.
so I can pull away and reverse without problem, she accelerates just fine in 1st and 2nd. The problem seems to come in from 3rd gear onwards, if I am VERY gentle then it won't do it but under normal or hard acceleration it gets to about 3.5/4K and then the revs shoot up and drive is lost. If you come off the throttle the revs drop right back to idle and it will cost for a while before banging back into drive. The indicator shows its still in gear so I'm calling this a false neutral!

Has anyone come across this sort of thing before? I cant find much on the net about it although it seems to plague the DSG boxes!

Happens hot or cold and all VCDS shows me is "Gear Monitoring Implausible Signal". Help please chaps!

as a fellow auto owner i only know what ive read on here, suggest   though you may have .  check conns to the ecus and all connectors on the gearbox , usually the first thing said is to change the fluid though sounds more like electrical signal fault to me.
Have you ever changed the fluid ?   i know its supposed to be in for life but everyone seems to say to change it unless you too have very low milage, must say though, when you start draining and refilling sometimes it seems to add more problems form what ive read.

Mirez did a writeup on the auto box and defective solenoids recently, not for quite the same fault description as you've given but it could be a dodgy or sticking solenoid or something like that, take a read here. Changing the oil is also covered in a separate article also in the reference library. I'm not an auto box specialist but aside from needing an oil change or a dodgy solenoid being at fault, one of the clutch packs could be on it's way out or a brake band not working correctly, though that could tie in with a dodgy solenoid as well.
