Hi,

I have a strange problem:
1. control switch in position L:
left mirror can move only up/left/right
2. control switch in position R:
right mirror can more: up/down/left/right
left mirror is also moving, but cannot move it down

Any ideas? I've already checked the wiring in the doors - no problems;/

Thanks

If the wiring in door is definitely ok then can only be internal failure of the switch.

Hi,
You shouldn't get power to both mirrors at same time so does sound like faulty switch since you've checked door wiring. If change this first may solve all problems. If left mirror still doesn't go down, clip glass out so can see motor mechanism, sometimes the teeth on the white plastic adjusters get damaged and the motor can't adjust correctly. It may be possible to see the motor trying to adjust as you operate the switch.
I've never done it, but it may be possible to disconnect the adusting switch and then run 12V direct to each contact in turn in the connector block until you find the one for the down operation. This would just let you know if the left mirror mechanism was faulty before you replaced the switch.

as a point of interest on the 64 reg Sharan you can move both mirrors independently or both together by selecting the option on the multi function display.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Most veedubs allow synchronous adjustment of both mirrors, Sharans do so maybe a previous owner turned it on in coding?
