Hi all,

Just on the off chance, does anyone know a good 12v live feed at the rear which works only when the keys are in the ignition?

Good old ford dont wire the cig socket to turn off and i keep forgetting to turn my DVR off :(

I currently have connected the front DVR via the stereo with 10 amp inline fuse to a new cig socket.
I now have a new rear DVR that i need to connect, however i don't want to use the same feed from the stereo. Using the cig socket in the rear of the galaxy is no good as it doesnt switch off.

I can run a wire to the front of the car if ness, however would like to avoid that.
This again would have a 10 amp inline fuse.

I do a fair bit of driving, and feel its time to add a rear DVR

Thanks

Craig

Does yours have wiring for cd changer in offside quarter trim? Maybe pick one up there? Can't remember if mine has a switch live or not so have a check with meter if you have wiring for it.

Yep i had 6 CD changer in the back until it all went pop.

Its no longer connected, and i believe there is no current going to any of the wires.

I will take a look though. Cheers

If the wiring is there could you trace one that is going to rear of head unit and then connect it up to a switched live rather than running a new wire in?

You hit the nail on the head.

I took alook at all the wiring for the 6 CD changer was in pristine condition.

I knicked on of the cables and looped it off the CD player and then attached the cable the other end.

My only concern is that im running the CD player, and 2 5V DVRs off the same switched live.
Each has a unique earth.

Both DVR has 20 amp inline fuse.

I wouldn't be concerned by that as the live you have linked to will also be fused,if there was too much current draw fuse would have blown. CD player and 2 5v dvr's won't draw that much.

Ah thats brilliant new.  [THANKS]

That one of the draw backs of not being a sparky, understanding the loads etc.

In that case, should i lower the in-line fuses?
I put 20 amp as i though this was realistic due to the normal cig lighter running off 25amp on its own.

On the devices you are running is there stickers with voltage and current details on it?

I would think more like 10-15 would be more appropriate at a guess.

I'm currently running 2 x Next-base 101 DVRs. - These were cheap and get me buy until i can upgrade the front to the 402 or 512.

I just tried searching the amp rating, and i have just stumbled on the below
http://redrockuk.co.uk/nextbase-car-camera-hardwire-kit-nextbase-402g-302g-202-lite-101-go/

It would suggest they run at 5v 2amp.

In that case 2 of them and a CD player 10 amp would be adequate I reckon.

Ah brilliant.

I wonder why there as a 20 amp fuse for the stereo originally?
The stereo itself came with a 15amp.

The 15 in stereo is probably because other stuff can run from it like CD players etc also it is powering speakers etc so more drain.

As for 20 in fuse box for stereo it will power other things not just stereo, not sure off top of head what but things like interior lights maybe?

Ah makes sense.

Ive drop the inline fuse for the DVRs to 2 amp, so far no blown fuses.

Thanks for you help :)
