Air con and rear cooling

ok, need some more advice, on my 2.3 mk11 when I put the rear most blower on only very warm air comes out when temp setting is set to cold, the one above rear doors. The air con does need a top up, the air is cold but not ice cold, is the rear not connected to the air con?
Thanks
Tom.

It runs off the main air con system with pipes going front to back.
Have a check of the pipes running to it one should be cold the other one should be hot.

Could be a couple of different faults

Air distribution valve not working to switch between hot and cold, vcds scan would confirm this.

Low refrigerant in system would also cause this by it being able to take away the hot air,you say it is low as front not the best either so my money would be on this.

Expansion valve fault another possibility.

Mine is low refrigerant air con works but is a bit weak as found out in this hot weather it simply cannot cope so can't remove the heat from cabin quick enough.

thanks, will give it a scan and update.

Tom.

just gave it a scan no fault codes came up. Does mine have ac to the two rear most seats? the second row of seats have cold air from the floor vents, but the last two seats it's warm air, mine does not have climate control, if that helps.

Tom.

Sounds like yours does not have rear air con then, doe you have ceiling vents in the back? If not its just front air con.

I would get it vacuumed down and regased

no vents in the roof  :(, i will get if refilled and hopefully that will keep the whole car cool :-\

thanks for the speedy replies,

Tom.

Just front it is then.
If it is low on fridge it won't have the power to effectively remove cabin heat in these temps.
Just make sure whoever does it does a proper job and vacs system for at least 30 mins before refilling with 750g of refrigerant and correct amount of PAG oil.
