Hi,
In our Galaxy from 2009 the LCD screen between the RPM and Speed clocks is malfunctioning. Doing everything from nothing to half screen/stripes etc.
My guess is it is just broken, but could be something else of course.
Any ideas on how to solve?
Would it be easy to get the clocks out and change this display? If so anyone knows how to do this (and where to order the LCD display)? I cannot find a how to on the internet.
Thanks and regards
Robert

The below is for the Mondeo.  Galaxy should be similar.

1. Remove the top part of steering column plastic cover (only four plastic clips connecting it to the bottom part so simply pull upwards and it should click apart)

2. Remove a plastic piece from infront of the instrument cluster (simply slide it toward yourself)ââ,¬Â¦this is connected to steering column cover by piece of material so do not tear it apart.

3. Remove two screws (one on each side of the cluster).

4. Pull slightly the instrument cluster toward yourself and using a screw driver release a metal retaining piece before pulling the cluster totally out. Do not yank the cluster out as you will most likely break off this metal piece.

5. Cluster is wired to the car via single gray connector with black plastic lever that you have to pull up to release the connector

All clusters (within platforms - Galaxy, Mondeo & Smax) are physically interchangeable but there may be issues with firmware versions.  Try to get one from the same year.  There should be plenty of very cheap s/h ones of the type you describe as many people want to change them for the Converse.  Mileage is stored in the unit - it will have to be reset to the correct number, which seems to cost about Ã,£80.
