decided to bite the bullet and have the head off and checked
oh joy
bearings shot
injectors worn may get away with new seals
lifters pot marked so new lifters
3 glow plugs snapped off

just hope the pressure test is ok or its on to evil bay for a new head(well new to me)

That's indicative of poor servicing in the past, the pd needs the schedule following correctly and PD oil to be used.

If the lifters are worn how is the camshaft?
What makes garage say injectors are worn?
If engine was running fine before I would think injectors are ok just need new seals fitting. Make sure they rub down and raised edges in injector bore so they don't damage seals when refitting. Also make sure they have correct tool to fit seals to injectors. And finally all the bolts for rockers, injectors and camshaft are torque to yield so have to be renewed every time.
Snapped glow plugs can be removed by the company that pressure tests/skims head usually as they will have the equipment to do it without damaging head.

thanks guy knows what he is doing
camshaft is ok
injectors just showing a touch of flat on one side he expects them to be ok as long as head is
glow plugs are out they just have snapped off tips
he is replacing all bolts
have found a pressure tested head on evil bay if mine is shot in a way hope mine is because i suspect the head will be less than replacing all the bits on mine

The bits do mount up from memory injector seals alone are about Ã,£50 for Bosch ones then all bolts about Ã,£80.
The injectors can go a bit flat from the fretting due to only one clamp holding them down, but so long as sealing recess not damaged you should be ok.

well finally some good news off the garage
head passed pressure test so should be back on the road by the weekend

got the car back on thursday Ã,£922 bill to keep it company but its sorted now
only paid Ã,£1300 for it (02 ghia)and looking on auto trader wouldnt have got anything much better for the total amount and i may have still ended up with the same problem s o not too bothered

Nice one now you can just enjoy trouble free motoring hopefully.
Are they really going for that much still? Makes me think I had a right bargain at Ã,£700 for my 02 ghia then,it had problems which I have gradually sorted but still don't owe me more than Ã,£1200

went well wife drove it to scarborough and back the weekend and we found out it was over heating doing whitby and back so more or less same journey
she wouldnt be the first to drive it though so thurs morning i put scooter about 300 kgs 100kgs of gravel seats 6 and 7 and a load of wood in and ragged it up and down the a38 and m42 for an hour or so and no over heating so she was happy
just got to try with the caravan on the back now

radiator is getting warm on the top as well now after a couple of doses of holts 2 part rad flush before it went in for the head
