just pulling away this morning really bad grinding noise and no drive 1.8 tdi
dmf or just clutch?

no clutch slip or other problems before

My money on DMF but either way you need to replace clutch kit and DMF.
But before you go down the changing route confirm driveshafts and diff are fine.

Almost certainly drive shaft spline's on the intermediate shaft have gone. Couple of big articles in the ref library about that :)
03 Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI 115 Ghia in Spruce Green Metallic
With cream leather interior, Full Bodykit, Remapped at 145bhp, Lowered on 18's
17 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 V6 Diesel in Slate Blue
262Bhp AWD and Factory fresh...for now!
58 Ford Transit 2.2 TDI 115 in Frozen White
With retrofitted everything except another slidey door! :)
LAUNCH X431 Pad PRO - Scanning & Coding for all makes and models done in Wiltshire in exchange for winegums! :)

Just realised you have a mark 2,I saw 1.8tdi and assumed mark 3.
As above drive shaft splines in that case.

well thats looks a lot cheaper was due into garage monday to have head gasket done and pressure test so its out side there now so can get it done at same timeis there one to each wheel and have to be done as pairs or can you just do the one that failed

If one side goes it will have no drive due to the way the differential works.

That looks like the one.
Price difference is prob oe parts versus aftermarket

thanks at that price will get both sides done whilst its in

It's only offside that has this set up,the nearside is a flange out the box with shaft bolted to it there is no intermediate splined shaft

ooh cheaper still love your answers

look at j and r driveshafts in Birmingham....dead cheap, full kit; mines been around cornwall for a week and Silverstone yesterday.

lhad it recovered to local garage it was booked in today to have ead gasket done and head pressure tested so leaving him to do the lot
nice garage they fix cars like you would do it yourself if head fails he will sort me out a good used one not try to sell me a new one mates air con pump packed up on his galaxy (x reg) so he just sorted out  a good used one for him

thanks daddyfixit
went to j and r and got the full set for one side Ã,£56
garage had contacted me about the cost of ford parts and let me get my own so thankls again
