Hi all,

Hoping someone has faced this issue before or knows about it.
Cant seem to find any info on this online

Basically since we had the hot weather on the weekend the galaxy has been driving after 30 seconds to 30 minutes and suddenly the engine will turn off. The rev counter drop to 0, screen on dash (MPG etc) turns off however speedo still at speed though.
Its appears an electrical stop rather than mechanical. its like you have turn the engine off via the key whist still driving.

Once this has happened the imob led is solid red and the car refuse to turn over.

To get it working again i have to take the key out and try restarting it a few times until i finally starts up again.

Unfortuntley on some occasions this can happen 4-6 times in a row. Which is becoming vary dangerous as to many morons take no notice of a car stopping with hazard lights flashing away.

However once its thrown its toys out of the pram the car drives flawlessly as it nothings happened. (Typical husband after and argument with the wife senero)

I have checked all the fuses both level 1 and under the bonnet and no issues there

I have checked that all the relays are correctly seated on both level 2 and 3, However I cant test some of the function on relays such as ECU, Imobo etc.

Performed a full VCDS scan and doesn't bring anything up.
Had AA out this afternoon as it got so bad the car was undrivable only to be told they couldnt pick any codes up and to drive the car home as at that point it was behaving itself again.

I have replace every fuse on level 1 just to be safe (had stacks of know working fuse lying around).

Does anyone know what this could be?

Im due to go to an interview tomorrow for a extremely important job, however its quite a journey and don't risk getting on the motorway and sitting in M25 traffic just for me to be stranded in one of the live lanes.

All help will be extremely appreciated.

First thing replace relay 30 or check for dry joints on relays circuit board.
This is the digifant relay that powers ignition etc on the petrol versions

Perhaps you could do a picture showing relay 30 in position on the relay plate also relay 167 for fuel pump.
2016 Vauxhall Insignia Elite Nav in White 2.0CDTI Manual.
2023 VW Transporter T6.1 SE In Silver 2.9TDI 150PS. 7 Speed DSG Wheelchair accessible day vehicle.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Thanks for getting bacl so quick

How would i vheck for dry joints?
I pull the relay out last night and nothing was ovious.

I will nip out to the car once kids are ready. Fuse box is put back together as we test drove it to see if we had fixed it by doing a reseat
I can confirm however that from memory these were in the same place as the manual states.

Would relay 30 cause to the to power off like this? I did think this relay due to other post on here but it appeared to more related to not starting

Thanks in advance

Please see attached level 3 relay fuse box

I'd imagine the usual failure 'mode' for these relays would be when they are energised- e.g, when starting or switching the ignition on. However, if it's dodgy contacts it could still fail when energised leading to the fault you describe.

Replacement part numbers if you need a new relay here.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Thanks guys

So ford or vw in a 30mile radius didnt have either relays
Have just ordered brand new ones should be here in next week or so

Just been to scrap yard a pull relay 30 and  167
Since installing the car hasnt exhibiting the issue

Before going to scrap yard car stopped on roundabout when turning the key it showed rrlay 30 sympton
Im keeping fingers crossed

Thanks for your help guys i can now get to my interview XD
