Hello,
This is my first post on this forum and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. My apologies if the question has been asked before but I couldn't find anything when I searched.

I have a 1.9TDi Zetec Mk2 Galaxy on a 55 plate. The front passenger exterior door handle no longer opens the door. I have tracked the problem down to a broken piece on the handle. I believe I will have to replace the handle. Here is the question, given that the handle does not have a lock barrel in it, will a rear door handle fit? The handles look very similar but I don't want to waste time taking both handles off if someone already has the answer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi jab1 and [attachimg=1]

The door handles appear to be the same size, however you may find the handle mechanize to be different.
I haven't had to replace the handles so would be unable to fully comment.

However that being said i'd suggest getting a replacement which can typically be brought on ebay or a scrap yard. These are typically between Ã,£10 - Ã,£30.

I've added the below links to the front and rear door handles, so you can get a clearer image of all the relevant parts.

Also i'm pritty sure any door which fails to open from the outside results in a mot fail. Occupants can not be removed in the event of an accident.

To remove the door card and membrane on a Mk2 Galaxy take a look at the post Mirez posted in the reference library below.

https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/galaxy-mk2-door-card-removal/

I dont seem to be able to find instructions on removing the door handle itself, but looking through my Hanyes manual (5556) its on page 11.11 to 11.12 although the guide isnt super clear

Hope this is of help.

Many thanks for the help - very grateful as rear door handles seem to be far more readily available (and cheaper) than front ones.

Cheers
