For those who are interested - Costco do a 20 litre drum of Chevron Oil at Ã,£42.00 - and it clearly states on the label VW 505.01

That is a hell of a deal.  In addition GSF have had a series of 40% off weekend deals  so I bought a few oil filters Air filters etc at 40% off the usual price. The schemes include ALL parts. If you need it have a look!

Bargain!! I mustve walked past that 100 times☺☺

I've been using it (Costco Chevron synthetic diesel oil) for nearly a decade.  Cheaper than chips and no issues whatsoever.

They do indeed sell it, ive got a pic of label but cant seem to upload from phone. Cant find out anything about it tho or confirm it is 505.01, maybe im not looking in right place. I get the feeling its not generally available in uk as all my searches for chevron oil specs go to US sites.

Also found in Asda fully synthetic for VW audi cars 504/507 spec Ã,£18 for 5 litres. Is 507 better than 505.01 ?[attachimg=1]

So i can upload from phone☺☺

put your phone in a lower res when taking photos for the web. click on your pic above and you will see the true size of what you uploaded :D HUUUUGE!
Toot-Toot! Beep-Beep!

It was a big drum of oil☺☺

That oil is 505.00 not 505.01, so not a PD oil!

VW oil specs.

You can go back up the tree to find JASO and API specs.

The label on the oil I bought as it does on the label above clearly says 501.01 - Yes it also says 505.00 but I take that to mean it answers the specs for all . Put it this way - do you seriously believe that such a huge company as Chevron is going to lie?
On the Square

They're not lying mate!!! That's why they STATE 505.00 amongst the other specs. Therefore NOT a PD oil! Personally I use the Castrol 5w40 FST! PD of course.

If it states that it meets or exceeds 501.01 then it must do or they are then lying or attempting to mislead. I am not sure why you feel that because it is, in essence, backwards compatible that it must mean that it doesn't cover the correct specs.
On the Square

Bottom line is 501.01 is not 505.01
Oil specs link confirms this

OK I can see what you mean I obviously mistook what I saw it isn't 501.01 but 505.01 - I stand corrected!
On the Square

In my opinion you should not use this oil in your gal mate!

Probably not but as both my Gals have some serious mileage on them and I also change my oil at 5000 I don't think too much harm will be done - but if I can off load the oil else where then bingo!
