Hi  Wonder if someone can advise where to purchase the brushes for the coolant pump ( I tried the link from the library posts but none for sale}  Mine has died , does it have a fuse I can check first it's a  2001  1.9  Alhambra   many thanks.

These are the ones I used the critical size is the 5mm bit the extra 1mm length made no difference. As they are rear entry I just removed spring and cut a little slot for the pump spring to push on. Works a treat and nice to get pump running for just a few pound rather than Ã,£90 ish for a new one.
I seriously doubt fuse has gone unless you have other stuff not working?
Easy way to check is unplug and test for feed with a meter.

Thanks,  as this seems a regular issue with these pumps  maybe someone can put me on to a supplier.

Member bigdave982 did have some for sale, you could send him a P.M and see if that's still the case?
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Sorry - I see those are end entry, not side.  But there _are_ plenty of options out there and for 45p a pair, it's worth a punt.

To make up for my earlier mistake.  Here are some 5x6mm side entry brushes.  A few strokes with a file and Robert knows your mum.

Any that are oversize will be easy to reduce using emery/sandpaper on a flat surface.  That's what I did with the ones I used when I took the pictures used in the Reference Library.  Mine were also rear rather than side entry too.  At the risk of invoking SOD's law, they are still working at the moment.

Thanks to all for the information, I have treated the old girl to a new one (not wife)   bosch  but have also purchased some 5mmx5mmx10mm brushes from Hong kong ,  to renovate old pump.  Will post outcome.

hi fella  , I've just done mine in December 2015 and I couldn't wait to get off the internet so I went into a auto electricians who refurbed alternators / starters etc and they carry boxes of all sorts. they charged me Ã,£1 a set so I bought 3 sets just incase I buggered up the first set cos they were 20mm length and had to cut them down with a file works a treat. fiddly though so be patient.
