Steering Rack MK3(?)

Anybody know if the steering rack is standard from 2006 - 2015. e.g. is the early Ecoboost the same as the a 2008 diesel or petrol?

Also if changing a inner tie rod and track rod end would you do both sides or just the one with play in it?
