Car in garage having clutch done.We have just found out it has already got flywheel conversion kit on .So the clutch we purchased is wrong. What parts do I need to buy as I want to check prices out.The clutch is worn badly.

Go on euro car parts they do solid mass for the vag diesels flywheels should be the same for all brands I would think so just look at the 3 piece clutch kits to suit solid mass

I got conversion kit fitted on my Galaxy ...unfortunately . First of all there was a significant increase in engine noise and vibration and secondly it lasted me 13 months only . Car is in garage just now and proper dual mass type clutch will be fitted .

Thanks all,but wot is the difference between the clutch kits and cost.I purchased one for normal clutch. Why would they change it and how come it needs new plate only 110 000 on clock.

So what exactly is the issue? Has it previously had a solid type flywheel clutch conversion and it's not lasted very long? What has led you or the garage to conclude that the wrong clutch was fitted in the first place?
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Car was in garage (sat) as clutch pedal was hard and started to slip.
Garage ordered part for clutch (normal factory fitted clutch). When he took it apart it had been converted to solid one so part he had would not fit.Car is stuck in garage till Monday as he could not get new part as it was late Sat aftrernnon.
Ive been tring to find what part is needed because I want to cost it.(original kits was Ã,£125 europarts). What is the difference betwwen the two clutch kits.
The clutch plate was below the mark and looked quite a state.I was quite shocked as this must be the second time its been changed in 110000 miles.
I just wqant it done as cheap as possible as I only keeping car for another year.Do not want to convert it back, god knows why somebody changed it in first place.

The diesel Galaxies from the factory were fitted with dual mass flywheels to damp vibrations and provide smoother drive and torque, which also gives the driveline an easier time. Because dual mass flywheels are prone to failure and costly to replace people sometimes choose to replace the whole clutch and flywheel setup with a solid flywheel and clutch to suit, but this isn't a miracle fix, because the transmission, clutch and driveshafts are subjected to more vibration and stress.

If you bought a clutch intended for the factory fitted dual mass flywheel then it won't suit the solid flywheel, but I don't know what the difference in price between the dual mass and solid clutch/ flywheel kits is, I would expect the solid flywheel kit to be cheaper because it's simpler to manufacture.

If you plan to get rid of the car fairly soon and assuming your solid flywheel is in a re-usable condition then your cheapest fix will be just to replace the clutch and pressure plate with one intended for use with the solid type flywheel.

At the time of changing my clutch difference between single mass and dual mass clutch was about Ã,£180 . Hope it helps .
