Handbrake on warning??

So today I reveresed out of parking space,swung hard right and was treated to a beep from dash and "handbrake on"(in text) warning on the matrix display

Where did that come from???
Never seen it before but when the handbrake is on I get the usual little red brake disc warning on speedo that has always been there

Not particulaly worried as its never been on before just curious as to whether it should be there

You get that if you start driving with the handbrake still applied.  I guess it uses the same switch that turns the light on on the dash.

Cant help wondering why it came on tho, i know ive had handbrake on when driving before, intentionaly
Must be a wire loose somewhere
