Mk3 1.8 Galaxy Ghia passengers Approach light

I have a 2008 Galaxy 1.8 with a few electrical problems, what's new I hear! Problem 1 passengers side approach light not working, have checked power supply to bulb, seems to have a permanent 12v, does the earth get switched to make light work, if so is there a relay? I have of course tried a new bulb, cleaned some corrosion from pins in connecting plug. Question 2, the rear window wiper is permanently on intermittent wipe, with the wiper stalk in the off position, have removed fuse in engine fuse box to stop it wiping for now?

Are you referring to the puddle lamps on the underside of the door mirrors? I don't know if they work off of a switched feed or earth, but if the other side is working properly, and in the absence of any wiring information you could try testing that to see if that also has a permanent 12v feed.

If the rear wiper is working when the switch is off then I'd be thinking either a wiring short or a dodgy switch in the first instance.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I will certainly check out the drivers side as a comparison, with ref the rear wiper, the wipe seems to be at regular intervals, as if being triggered by a timer relay, I know with my old galaxy the rear wipe was always an interval wipe, ie not constant, so maybe the later models are the same, just a case of figuring out why it's operating with the wiper switch in the fully off position!

i sometimes get this in my smax,im wondering if its a problem with the rain sensor?

or another thought it may be broken wires in the rear hatch.YES the new 1's suffer the same as the mk1&2's sadly.

I assume Gregers your refering to the rear wiper fault?

yep and some,mine failed and took out the lock/handle operation.

Well guys some kind of magic has occurred with my passengers side Puddle /Approach light! I had to replace a faulty hydraulic release bearing, and of course replaced the DMF and clutch while the box was out. In doing this job the battery had been disconnected for a day, so everything powered down! Hey presto when the clutch job was completed and the battery re connected, the approach light has worked ever since, I can only assume its like a computer, you have to re boot now and then?

Haven't replaced the fuse for the constantly operating rear wiper yet, to see if that is cured but will report if that works too! now the only thing still not working is the parking sensors, but that's not the biggest deal!

HI just thought I would give an update on my Galaxy electrical problems, as you saw in my last posting the approach lights started working after a system power down, but this didn't do anything for my rear wiper problem, but I am happy to report that it is now rectified also, after tracking down the rear wiper relay, removing the relay and re fitting it?? maybe some kind of a connection problem with the relay, but hey! it's all working again!

All I have now to sort is the parking sensors, but a mechanic friend of mine has the Snap-On Modes system, and a check out on that showed a faulty internal circuit on the front outer sensor! may of course be another poor connection, have yet to get to it. I understand from other posts I have read, that if any one sensor is out, then none of them will respond! so will report when I can.
