Hi all
Got a noise when air con on    like a blowing sound  def not the fan  hard to describe    tried to upland a video so you can hear, but can't upload. but best way i can is.,  like when you blow across th stop of a bottle or into a beer can !  comes from behind the sat nav unit,   goes off when turn econ   on.  gas correct quantity,  blowing cold,  no leaks in over a year,  was regassed and checked 2 months ago.  not lost any,   i know theres also a slight noise when its on but this is loud enough to hear as you drive. like a droning sound

will see if i can upload to you tube and link

reminds me of last mk 1 gal   when the gas was low,   but this is topped up correct

Is this something that you've only just noticed or has it been there a while?

I'm not 100% sure on exactly how the system works- whether a flap in the front blower box changes the airflow direction when the aircon is switched on to direct it through the evaporator or if (when the temperature control is set to blow cold air) the air is always directed through the evaporator but because the refrigerant gas isn't being pumped around the system by the compressor when the aircon is switched off (or the panel is set to 'ECON' mode), it has no effect on cooling the air.

Perhaps somebody can clarify?
