Clock playing up - any ideas ?

The clock in my Galaxy Mk2 has recently starting to play up - losing time or stopping completely.

When you push the button in to set the time the hands move around as expected so its not dead.

Other than the obvious, ie replace the clock, is there anything I can try ?

I've just spent over 50 quid on an electric window switch and not that long ago replaced the fan resistor - it seems VW electrics aren't as good as they could be. Although possibly the clock is a Ford part ?

Is there any patten to when it does it? IIRC it has two feeds, one permanent and one ignition fed - pop the clock out and measure for voltages, you might have a blown fuse on the permanent circuit.
