Hi you have probably been asked this a million times before, What is the best option if I want to buy a handheld or laptop diagnostic scanner? Not sure which one would be best for the 2.8 v6 auto 2001 mk2. Any help appreciated as I have the engine light up and want to find out why as the car seems to be running fine. Many thanks.

well unless you go down the experts route, with VERY EXPENSIVE hand held jobbies then i would say go for the laptop and lead, that way youve got a lappy aswell to use for other stuff.

vcds on a laptop is the better route imo. The amount of stuff it can do compared to a good reader is incredible. You'll need a dealer type version to get anywhere near the same functionality as vcds
