Nice How To, but one point, I have a run on pump on our mk2 2.3. That was one of the many bits I have had to replace (as the end cap of the pump had melted!).

Just for info, I wouldn't like to think that us petrol heads are missing out!

Really???? I've never seen a 2.3 with one and mine didn't have one? I can't find any reference's in the wiring manuals for it as either... Is it definitely factory fit and not after market or retrofitted?

It's a strange one that,
The Mk1 diesels definitely don't have one except with independent heating.
It may well be vehicles suffering with poor circulation through rear passenger heater and cycling of the booster heater when the run on pump packs up may be caused by the dead pump restricting the flow, has anyone run a vehicle with the pump removed from the circuit and just joined the pipes together.

As for the 2.0 and 2.3 there was some references to this on the other site, seems they are randomly fitted as some members say they had it fitted and some not.

We definitely have one. It looks factory fit too. Personally I think this contributed to the eventual HG failure, although the Mk1 didn't have it an it coped very well (e.g rear heater would throw out warm air when needed). The cooling system has been over-modified on the Mk2 2.3 in my opinion. Gone is the standard thermostat (Ã,£4 replacement from anywhere) to a dealer only assembly at Ã,£35. Crazy!

How weird? Edited the post though, its all included now so thanks for bringing that up!  [THANKS]
