Hi all,
Just had Mot done, passed .hip hip but advisory on oil drip.Noticed in the last month a small amount of oil on driveway(not even  t -spoonful).I haven't lost a lot of oil been checking.
We took the heat shield off underneath to have a good look .My mate noticed that there was oil coming from Turbo. He reckons it the start of turbo going (as not noticed it in performance). All I want is either to get second hand one or send this one off to be fixed .Anybody got any suggestions and good dealers.1.9TDI M2.
cheer's ALL

Make sure the oil is coming from the turbo and not being dripped on from above, check the pipe from top of cam cover to turbo air inlet tube this has a tendency to leak and run down the tube on to the compressor housing.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Definitely coming from turbo ,also leak on egr which we originally thought was dripping down.
Going to watch oil level ,is there anything else I should be looking out for (performance ,smoke etc.)

In my experience, the TDI turbo's do let a fair bit of oil passed the seals but it's normally contained in the intercooler pipework. Are you sure you don't have a boost leak? There is a rubber 90 on the turbo exit which can split..

Not sure really. As I said I think ill watch oil leakage and take from there.Bit of a pain getting to the turbo.Should I be lookinh for anything else performance wise.
Thanks

You should hear a whistling noise if you have a leak as the turbo spools up (and the air escapes). You can see boost leaks using VCDS to measure expected and actual intake pressure but unless you've done that in the past you won't really have a comparison to make.

Cheers,
Im looking at Ã,£200 for recondition one with 12 month warrenty.
Think ill just get it done.Remove and fit for Ã,£50.
What would happen if it just stopped working.
Only keeping car for year.
Cheers

If it just stop's working then you'll simply have no power, the biggest problem is that if the seals go then it will pump oil into the intake (which a diesel engine will then burn) leading to catastrophic engine run-away. To be fair though, that's always possible on any turbo diesel - but if you know the seals are iffy then its an extra worry. However, you are seeing oil on the outside of the pipework and a seal failing would put oil inside...
