Got this problem now at low revs. Apparently alternator clutch pulley needs renewing. Ã,£35 from gsf. Was going to get a mobile mechanic to do it. Cars done 110K. I guess I need new belt as well, should I renew the tensioner Ã,£41 while its apart? Any advise? Also what special tools?
Cheers.

You don't need any special tools to renew the tensioner, although a special splined holding tool similar to this is required to remove the alternator freewheel pulley from the alternator.

Up to you, the tensioner is easy enough to replace without dismantling loads of stuff so if you don't want to fork out unnecessary cash you could just try renewing the pulley first. If the belt looks worn/ chewed then it's probably worth replacing the belt at the same time as the pulley however.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Just replaced my tensioner , as it was running out of line and threw the belt. Unfortunately I put a new belt on before spotting the misaligned tensioner and it threw that one as well. Split them both lengthways

Easy to do, air box out releive tension and pin it back,3 13mm bolts and out it comes
44quid from local motor factors plus belt

ina pulley Ã,£30, qh belt Ã,£17, 40mins Ã,£20 labour (had to take alternator off so spline tool could fit). All sorted tensioner looked good
