Hi everyone, my cruise control has stopped working, I have the mfsw type, the light comes on the cluster when I switch it on but nothing happens when I attempt to set speed. Not used it for a while and tbh I don't know when it stopped working, a few months back I changed gearbox it's now on a 20tdi sharan box and had to fit new turbo at same time so don't know if these had any bearing on cc problem, appreciate any help you can give, thanks, Gaz

Hi I've plugged into vcds but can't see a controller for cruise control so did a general search which brought up a couple of other faults but nothing to do with cc, can anyone tell me where to go on vcds lite to access the cc module thanks >:(

I don't think there is a separate module for cruise control on the TDI, as the vehicle has an electronic throttle IIRC it's controlled by the the PCM (powertrain control module).
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Normally the ECU is the only controller on the TDI for the Cruise with the exception of if you have the MFSW. Since you do, then the codes from the wheel are being converted to signals before being passed to the engine ECU by the Steering Wheel Control Module.

If you hook up VCDS to that and look at measuring blocks, you should be able to see each button as its pressed to confirm the module is seeing that correctly.

Thanks for reply I've tried the vcds on steering wheel module and get message saying no response from controller, any ideas? Thanks  ???

Ahh that'll be the problem then, the controller looks like a double relay mounted in the fuse panel. I can't remember the exact location or number just at the moment but if you look back over the MFSW post on here its covered in some detail.

Just a thought does the clock spring carry the current for cc

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Ok thanks I will look into the relays, I would of thought it will have to go through the clock spring , how long do they tend to last as I replaced clock spring about 2 year since after an airbag fault cheers

Hi all, after several attempts finally got vcds to open the steering wheel controller I have attached pic, would appreciate any thoughts
Thanks

The MFSW controller (the relay looking thing) talks to the Steering Wheel Electronics (Which are in the wheel). If the clockspring had failed you should still be able to talk to the MFSW controller which will flag an error that it can't see the steering wheel.

The pic looks normal, they should all be non operational until you press a button.
