Hi
Does anyone know if it is possble to view the error codes on an Eberspacher heater off the vehicle. i.e by connecting from the error code pin on the heater to the OBD socket?

Probably with dedicated Eberspächer diagnostics, the mk1's have a dumb controller so you can't use Vagcom either.
What is the problem you are having.

theres a place near preston, lancs that is an eberspacher agent and i think he will do diags on a bare unit ???

he quoted me over Ã,£100 for booster heater motor so i found a knackered vauhall that was split in the icy weather due to no antifreeze and swapped the motor !!!!

whats the problem with your one anyway ????

I want to use it as a boat heater, I have all the parts, I think I have it wired correctly, but it does not start. My local agent tells me it is locked out. As it is a Ford unit, he cannot see the error codes. Hence I think I need to connect it to a Ford diagnostic unit, see what the problem is and unlock it.
Any ideas gratefully received.

What is the model of your heater?

E.G is it. D3WZ D5WZ D5WS D5Z-F

That's the one that's fitted in the MK2 so your dealer is right it will need connecting to a MK2 car to test/clear any faults

You won't read it with a Ford reader as its got the VW controller on it (the galaxy is nearly all VW) - you'll need a suitable VW scan tool, supply the heater with both supplies and the ground and then the single diagnostic line.

Hello!
First time I got an error about glowplug of the heater. Even I ccleaned it, It appeared again. Nowadays, that error has vanished. But I have another one: 01414 -  Combustion-Air Blower (V6). Like tthe old error, the code appear for five times in the log file. What is the problem?
My heater is  HEIZG. B/D5W       0001

That is probably a stuck combustion motor quite common after prolonged lack of use over summer months,try clearing codes starting up and giving the head of heater a tap. Failing that the motor is duff.

thats how i used to start my old mk 1  a good tap with rubber hammer   then i used to bridge the sensor and run it a few times over the summer to keep it free
