Hello everyone,please help me!
Recently bought a mark 2 galaxy. 1.9tdi 6 speed manual. have had to change the flywheel. on removal found a score on one of the boltlugs within the bell housing and the flywheel was completely knackered ie out of shape and pretty battered with definite signs of pressure plate damage on the outer edging. also, flywheel must have jammed therefore had lots of trouble removing the bolts from the crankshaft because they did not line up.

so, have replaced the dual mass flywheel, clutch and release bearing. all parts went back in perfectly. however, on starting the engine, there is a real spinning squeeking noise as if the flywheel is slightly rubbing on the bell housing somehow. will this cause any damage to worry about? or, will it subside once it has bedded in seeing as the flywheel compound is more robust than the alloy bell housing?

any advice or info would be really appreciated

also, can anyone tell me what gearbox oil to use? having a real prob finding out which one as it says refer to manuel which i do not have. have been told by kwik fit to use Dexron 3 which is also a power steering fluid as well as transmission. thanks all

Ford TIS CD says N052171VX00.  I have seen it recommended that you only use the Ford fluid, it is expensive as it is fully synthetic but should last longer because of it.  I have also seen discussions elsewhere that changing to a different oil (VW?) can help improve as stiff or baulky gearchange.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try. Any suggestions on the flywheel?

Sorry, no experience of that - and hopefully never will have :)

If doesn't sound right to me though!  I know failed DMF's in the past have worn through the housing and runs the risk of causing a fire (probably as the housing heats up due to the friction?).
