Hi Guy, new here however been looking over the site all day with regards to my problem, and not found anything similar to it really.

I just got this car and tbh i much preferred my Galaxy :(

Anyway.....Seat Alhambra 2.0 Petrol 1997 Engine Code ADY.

1st problem I came across was the central locking.

The car locks all doors on the drivers side, however only opens the petrol cap, boot and drivers door lock when you unlock it.  The passenger side opens everything however only locks itself.  The car has the module under the seat with a relay there, I removed the relay and it was all still working the same.  The windows do go down when you hold the key in the lock position and visa versa.

The next problem which just happened the other day, I put the drivers window down, however when i went to put it back up it wouldn't move.  It has power, the switch works there is clicking when I push the button either up or down.  If I press the up button lots it stops clicking and I have to unplug the unit in the door and it starts clicking again.

remote central locking batteries were dead so changed them.  The remove never worked so tried re programming it but didn't work.  I ran a diagnostics on the car and nothing can up with regards to the central locking.

I took the door card off and checked all the wires on drivers door and boot as I had read this on here, all in good condition a tiny bit of condensation but nothing major, no brakes all wires feel good.  The module under passenger seat is dry and free from dirt or condensation.

Any help much appreciated.....

Hi Paulbol, It's not behind the doorcard that the wires break, it's inside the rubber sleeve that covers the wires between the body and the door, this is where you'll find the damaged wires.

Hey, thanks for the reply, yeah I've taken the whole loom out  The rubber sleve was were the condensation was but all wires are intact

Howdy!

If you've not yet checked the wiring loom in the passenger door where it passes through the gaiter from body to door then I would recommend taking a look here as well, the problem can occur in any of the door wiring looms and the tailgate.

Thanks again for the replies, as everyone is recommending the wires I had a very busy morning, I took all looms out, boot and all 4 doors, checked over but all in good order.  Went to local scrap yard with a battery and tested the car they had there.  Windows all work as did central locking, removed all the looms and replaced them on my car and........

Still the same problems, So I think its safe to say its not the loom.

Whats next?

Then in that case I'd be thinking a dodgy door latch or perhaps the paddles on the lock cylinder in the door handle which are known to break, this could be throwing the lock/unlock signals out of kilter.

There's an old thread along similar lines here with a link to a repair kit.......

Great I'll have a look tomorrow.

Couple other things, do these come with the cruise control wiring as standard?  Got the stock just hoping the wiring is there :)

The power steering works fine when driving.  however when turning the wheel in a static position it vibrates and feels like its getting starved.  The oil level is good and there is no leaks anywhere.  Someone said maybe the filter in the reservoir, anyone had something similar?

Thanks again guys.

Hi, with regard to power steering judder, you may find the alternator pulley clutch is siezed. I thought my power steering pump wasfaulty for 2 years before I discovered it was the alternator pulley.

Small update as I see alot of posts people never put how they resolved the problem.

The Window was the window motor went down no problem but refused to go up plugged new one in and it words a treat.

Power steering was the filter in resevar was blocked.....cleaned and replaced.

Cruise control wiring is not there.... :(

And the central locking I still have to fix but 100% its not the wiring. It may be as above.  I'l sort this tomorrow and inform you

thank you for updating us all.
