Im new and there are a lot of topics, i have found many posts about the problems im getting and its a daunting task to find the answer.

My problems

Overheating under load
Water Leak (solved - Theromstat and housing replaced)
Shudder under acceleration 1st and 2nd gears only so far(I believe this is the dual mass flywheel)
No hot heaters in front or rear (will blow cold air)

vcds
3 Faults Found:
01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68)
009 - Open or Short to Ground
00926 - Terminal 30
            002 - Lower Limit Exceeded
01189 - Front Air Distribution Flap Motor (V145)
009 - Open or Short to Ground

is the over heating linked to no hot air being blown into car?

Hello and  welcome5

Have a read on the link below

https://www.fordmpv.com/smf2/ford-galaxy-reference-library/heater-blowing-cold-air-and-engine-overheating-underload-(all-models)/

Make a note of the fault codes, now clear codes to see if they come back, 00926 is a result of a flat battery at some time.

Check driveshafts first, these are more often associated with vibration, but don't rule out DMF

No!! no heat being blown into the car won't cause it to overheat.

Diagnosing this problem is not cut and dry a broken water pump can go undetected for some time if the cars used mainly on short runs and does not have a problem if air is not present in the system or until a motorway run or driving with a heavy load is encountered.

A car that is constantly overheating and gone unchecked will most likely suffer head gasket failure if it's not the root cause already.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

my return hose is different to the one in the link.
when the thermostat and housing was changed i did not check inside to see if there was any problem. but the housing that came off was damaged. I will order the water pump today.

Anyone know the part number for the water pump, dont want to get it from ford as they are expensive by me. also what engine code is my car, 2004 TDi 130 mk2 thanks.

This pump fits lots of vehicles in the VW range and are available at any good motor factors, they are also available as part of a kit as timing belt is usually changed at the same time, just check that the new pump has a metal impeller.

Your engine code is ASZ

any chance you can give me a link to a water pump, i have no idea what an impeller is, am i right in thinking BOSH are the original part?

Here for example. Bosch are an O.E manufacturer but I don't know if they make water pumps, if they do I've not come across one to date!
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Example of one of the kits available on Ebay.

Ok as i only bought the car last week i have gone all out on service parts, all the filters and oil, timing belt kit and most importantly the water pump. I have checked the service log and its well over due the timing belt.
also i have cleared the faults found using vcds i will check again next week.

I will take photos.

here is the offending part the water pump,

the silver part at the top if held tight you was able to turn the bottom black part which shouldnt happen.

after a short drive i could feel the heater blowers getting warm. However i need to take the car on a main road to see if i have any overheating issues. fingers crossed.

Awesome :) It looks a little warped as well or is that just the photo?

not sure if its warped, but the bottom black part i could push and pull it and there was plenty of movement. I have been driving about, and the car is now in working order. sustained 70mph for about 1mile with no movement of the gauge, previously 65mph would cause a change.

Just the shudder to fix now, i think i might leave it till it just breaks.
