clutch pedal

my clutch pedal stays down sometimes well not all the way moves back about 1 " you can change  gear but not put it in first need to turn engine off put in gear . been to the garage thinking time for a clutch guy looked at it pulled clutch pedal up and it was all ok?? test drive fine .
did it today aswell stopped pulled pedal back up all ok

I had / have exactly the same issue with my car.  No rhyme or reason why it does it but it randomly does.
Had it to a garage, who couldn't find the fault.  Be interesting to see if you have more luck
