Rear heater / Aircon MArk II galaxy

Hi all, new to this forum but I am a member of FGOC. Have posted question on there but as yet, no answer back, so thought I would give this a try. I have issues with my Aircon unit flashing at start up. The message shows " rear flap motor". After getting some info from Galaxy owners I tried to replace rear flap motor.
Spent a few hours today looking at the rear flap motor issue, air con unit flashing, fault code said " rear flap motor position fault ". I changed it for a new motor, second hand though, reset the fault codes, but nothing seems to move. I see there are 2 motors, a small air con unit and a blower unit. Neither of the 2 flap motors seem to move when you adjust temp or position, feet or face. There are 6 wires to the plug, what are they and can I test the motors by hand. The new motor I put on, seems to leave the flap stuck on feet only, any ideas ?? Not a problem, but would like to try and fix it, thanks all.
Do these only work in " recirc " mode or should they work all the time.

Hello and  welcome5
Firstly aircon panel flashing means a fault has been logged as you may already know.
The rear heater is a recirculating heater only, am only aware of one motor this is for adjusting the temperature.
Cars with rear aircon will have vents in the roof lining if you have no vents in the roof then you only have heat maximum 3 degs higher but no lower than front temp.
Does the fan work as normal on the rear heater?

Yes, fans seem to work as normal. The Air con packed up last year and this was fixed by replacing the sensor on the pipe behind the front wheelarch, air con is great. Display still flashes so thought i would try and fix. Changed flap motor which directs between floor and roof vents, dual aircon fitted. Disply still flashes and vent is shut permanently to floor vents. Can change to roof vents by forcing the flp over with the motor disconnected. You say the temperature flap only changes on recirc?? There are 2 motors fitted on mine, number 7 on drawing and number 2 ?? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this, could the main digital unit be faulty, neither "flap motors" seem to move??
Help always appreciated. Its not a major issue but would be nice to sort out the few small issues I have, generally, the car is great and reliable.

In that case this diagram will be yours.
Number 9 is air distribution control motor V136
Number 5 is temperature flap control motor V137
When you checked for codes did you get the V 136 or 137 to identify

Have you checked fuses especially the 3 and 5 amp fuses for the heating, do you have the handbook for fuse designation.[attachimg=1]

Hi, yes I have a handbook, haven't checked fuses as yet but don't think they have gone.  The display still flashes with the code " rear air distribution flap" , so I presume it's number 9, rather than number 5.

Morning, fuses seem OK. I had lovely cold Air coming from the floor vents in the back going home last night, good job the summer is coming, may have to move flap manually to get air to roof vents for summer. Display still flashes, will look more at the weekend if time permits. When put onto full heat, it still blows cold air, seems both flaps are not working??

Check fuses 3. 19. 32 these are all 5 amp but these do supply other items depending on spec
fuses 21. 22 supply the fan current.
If your fuses are OK you may have a wiring/connection problem or the ATC module itself, I can send you the wiring pin outs/diagram if you want to check connectivity with a multimeter.

Hi, yes please, we have been searching for wiring diagrams for ages. All the front A/C works fine.

A few other issues to sort out over the summer. Heated mirrors don't seem to work very well, reverse camera to fit to Mfd, DRL lights to wire proper;y ( may add Angel eyes to headlights if I can pick up a cheap pair to play with ) MOT in a few weeks, a good clean and polish to remove some scratches, replace door pull on drivers door as badly scratched and looks shabby. Would like to get wheels reburbed, but all depends on cost?? The joys of running a car, good job the second car is a rented one from work, a 220d Active tourer, what a lovely car to drive, roll on France this summer!!

Just noticed you mentioned heated mirrors? are they actually working as fuse 3 is also assigned to mirrors aswell as aircon.
On the rear of the ATC module there are three coloured plugs C191 is the white one

Hi, thanks for that , Have you got a circuit diagram aswell, a wiring diagram doesn't really help with voltages etc. Thanks

Check for continuity between C191 plug on ATC module and the two flap motors.

Fuses 3 & 19 both OK.  Atc unit reset. VCDSt scan run, " v 136 rear distribution flap motor fault" showing, resets but comes back. Noticed aux pump on bulkhead may not be running, does this circulate heat to rear heater unit?? Air con blows well from rear foot vents but not roof.

Do the coolant pipes get hot running to the rear heater unit?

I'll have a look over the weekend, if I get a chance.

So any news on the coolant pipes to the rear heater are they getting hot? and have you done a continuity check between the flap motors and the white plug C191 on the rear of the ATC unit that's the display control unit.

Red wires usually power so check for 12volt at both flap motors pin 2

Afternoon, not hjad chance to look at anything yet, just took on an allotment, so will be busy. Its not a massive problem at the moment, need to remove rear panel again to do checks. I have a few days off next week, so may get chance to look and feed back. Thanks for the info.
