new windscreen

hi all
been onto the insurer for changing of the heated windscreen with crack , i asked for an o.e one and they said    tesco won't pay for that it has to be one without the ford name stamped on it. she then said all the windscreens were the same as the ford and made by the same company ,  i could have a ford stamped one if i wanted to pay the Ã,£600 price difference.

just wondered if they are indeed the same as the o.e   but no ford badge on as i only have to pay the Ã,£75 excess

After-market ones are nearly always to the same quality as OEM ones - most of the time they are made by the same company anyway!!

luckey you have a 2.8 and not a tdi.try asking fords for a price on the aux heater

thought as the national windscreen chap is coming tomorrow to fit new screen i would fit new pollen filter and leave the wipers / scuttle panel off for him,   jeeez   it took an hour of wd40 and rubber hammer to release one of the arms from the spindle.   no idea why it was so jammed as the other one lifted straight off.
any ideas as to what to apply to the spindle when the arm goes back on to hopefully prevent the arm seizing on again ?   coppaslip maybe ?
