Door mirror connections

I had the misfortune of someone smashing off my passenger side door mirror which required a total replacement.
I bought one of ebay which I thought would fit - FORD GALAXY WING DOOR MIRROR 2006-2010 ELECTRIC HEATED LH LEFT PASSENGER N/S
The garage I've took my car to says it fits ok but the connections are different.
Being a total plank when it comes to cars it looks like I've ordered the wrong one and I'm trying to work out what difference my old one is to the one I've bought.
I can only assume my car doesn't have "heated" as I knew to avoid the "power close" ones as my car def does not do that.
Can someone confirm the connections are different for heated and non-heated... and as all I need from it is for the electric maneuver motors to work, is there a way of getting round the connectors being different or do I need to splash the cash again on the right one?
Hope someone can help.

Iv'e heard of this problem before and as far as I can remember they cut the plugs off and made new connections.
Check your other mirror to see if it heats up, you need to have the heated rear window on to do this

Cheers Chris.
I'm just off to pick it up so will be able to have a good look at the older connectors.
Do you know if it's a simple job to get at the mirror connections on the door myself rather than use a garage like I've done so far?

Will require removal of the door trim card to get to the wiring.

Hi, I had exactly the same problem where I bought a mirror 'On Line' which, if my memory is correct,  had six wires but a connector that would have taken eight whereas the socket in the door had provision for twelve connections, but only six wires.  I even went to my local Ford Main Dealer who told me that there was not any means of interconnecting the dis-similar components. Somebody did suggest going to a scrap yard and trying to make up my own interconnector, but to no avail.  I tried to get a refund but was told it was too late, maybe you could try.   :(
In the end I had to purchase the correct one through Ford Main Dealer appprox Ã,£130  !!   :'(
I don't believe there is a problem as to whether it is due to mirrors being heated or not, it is simply a case of Ford changing the connection format after the early Mk3 Galaxy, and the 'On Line' mirrors probably only suit the later Mk3 versions.  The website I purchased from now state the mirrors only have the 6 wire connectors.
