Front passenger side window down but won't go up - can it be forced? Mk1 Galaxy

Our passenger side window has been temperamental, sometimes reluctant to go down, but today went down fine but wouldn't go up. I tried to put it up when it was only part way down, then when it failed to go, I put it all the way down hoping something might unjam or a contact might be juddered into operating correctly, but it is well and truly stuck.
I have taken off the door card, and dismantled the switch. The switch appears to be working fine. When the up button is pushed 12v at pin 3 is connected to pin 5 (red and white) and the red and white wire at the regulator motor plug goes to 12v.

When I press down, I can hear a small click, but nothing when I press up. I have suspected that the bushes in the motor may be on their way out due to the intermittent faults, but now need to get at the motor and check that. To get to the motor I have to remove the regulator assembly. To do that I have to release the assembly glass clamps and disconnect the glass. I can get a hex driver to the front clamp bolt through a convenient hole in the inner door skin, but the rear clamp bolt is hidden behind the plastic pulley and part of the metalwork of the regulator assembly. To get at this clamp bolt the window glass has to be raised by a bit - (as stated in Haynes manual and it sees to be right). BUT I can't raise the glass as the motor won't work!....

Is there a way of forcing the window up a few inches? I've tried pulling, but to no avail. Will I have to smash glass, remove regulator and fix it, the replace at and fit new glass?  Also am I missing something?
Thanks guys.

Can you access the bolts that hold the motor to the regulator? If so you can unbolt the motor so the drive spindle disconnects from the regulator which will free the mechanism so you can raise the window manually. If not, I would remove the clamp bolt holding the glass to the regulator that you can access, then spray some silicone spray around the clamp rubber and see if you can wiggle/work the glass a bit and try to release it from the clamp.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Thank you Paul. That sounds do-able. Can't access the motor to reg bolts with the window down as the glass covers them but may be able to get the glass free as you suggest. I'll have a go when the rain stops!

Have you checked for broken wires in the door gaiter, large brown wire and large red/yellow these provide the motor power and earth
The wires on the switch only carry the control voltage to the motor module

I had a similar problem on my galaxy. my fault was what GrahamW has mentioned.
