Ford Galaxy 2011 push button start - key reprogramming help

Hi,
Long shot but I need to reprogram the spare key on my 2011 ford Galaxy - i believe mk3 - this is the one with a push button start so no ignition key to turn back and forwards etc.

Any ideas?

Why does it need reprogramming? I'm assuming as it's push button start it's keyless entry as well? Does the spare key neither open the doors or allow the engine to be started?

My wife left the battery dead for a few days prior to telling me, I've changed the battery for a new one and now it will not operate the car at all!!

Any ideas?

Hm, so you still have one working key then, it's just the spare that doesn't work? Do you have keyless entry? And the battery you're referring to that went dead- are you referring to the one in the key fob, not the main vehicle battery?!

Sorry - i forgot you canÃ,´t read my mind I should be clearer (learning curve )
ok spare key battery died - replaced however no joy on operating any part of car or engine.

key fob unlocks car and it is a push button start so no ignition to turn.

main key has battery life so can still drive and unlock/lock car so it points to spare fob?

should I be trying a new battery or is there a fix on pressing this and that - ps did the one where you lock the car with the key three times then press buttons on good fob then do new fob etc..

So the spare keyfob will neither open the doors or allow you to start the engine? I'm not especially familiar with how the immobiliser differs with push button start over a conventional ignition barrel, but there must still be some kind of transponder within the key fob that still needs to be 'read' by the vehicle to allow it to start, and I wouldn't expect that to be reliant on the key fob having battery power in order for it to work, with a normal remote key the battery only powers the radio transmitter for the remote locking, the immobiliser chip requires no power for it to disarm the immobiliser, therefore the vehicle will start even if the remote battery is dead.

Have you checked the owner's manual to see if there is any information on changing the battery & reprogramming the fob? Having said that, any outlined procedure is only likely to apply to the door locking, not the immobiliser.
