According to Ford dealership my car had 15" wheels when it left the factory. When I bought it it had 16" steelies. Apparently there are 2 different pads for the rears (268mm). Is taking the wheel off and measuring them the only way to find out? Are the calipers the same for the different pads? Cheers.

I stand to be corrected, but as you list your Galaxy as a Ghia spec on an '06 plate, to my knowledge it would have  left the factory fitted with 16" alloys unless you chose the 17" rims that were an option! The brochure I have even lists the steel rims fitted to the LX version as 16"! The earlier Mk2's were a bit different, but on an '06 plate I'm pretty sure that's the deal.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

As above an 06 Ghia would have had alloys and the ghia didn't get the option of 15's the only possible exception being if it was a "Special Vehicle" order (meaning police etc) then it may have had the steelies.

There are actually 3 sizes for the rear although the largest is reserved for the 150bhp and V6 engines - unfortunately yes, removing and measuring is the only way :(
Also no, the callipers are different for all 3 variants.

Thank you gents for your replies. I checked through the holes on the wheel and the pads look square-ish or rectangly shape, which makes me believe that I have the 87mm pads. Tomorrow morning I'll check/measure them. Btw I got a set of Brembo discs for the rear. Are Mintex as good as Brembos? Cheers.
