It all depends on your style of driving, auto/manual, terrain, mother in laws weight etc, but I'd say that was about right.

as mad has said,
i used to get on average 38mpg round town but that was driving slowly etc,once had mine up to 59 mpg at 60 mph but that was a rarity.

For regular driving 35>45 is expected, lower in towns, higher on motorways so yours is good

For an older style engine lugging a 1600Kg car the MPG they get it excellent.
