Hi everybody !

I became an owner of Galaxy 1.9 tdi 115hp three days ago, but i have experienced some issues yet.
Yesterday I was unlocking the driver's door when the key suddenly got stuck on 45 degree and i couldn't get the key out of the door for a very long time. It was very bad situation since i have only one key. Now the lock does not work, i mean that it doesn't go right. I did not try to unlock againg, because i am afraid of doing the same thing again. Before having this issue I tried to programm the remote key, but I could't make it. And my questions are:
- Is there a possibility the key to got stuck because of the unsuccessful key programming ?
- Had anyone have a problem like this ?
- Any ideas for solving this problem ?

Sorry if there are any mistakes in my post, my english is not very good.

Regards and many thanks,
Kostadin

Hi Kostadin and welcome to the forum (Your English is very good by the way!)

So, to answer your questions...
1) No, the lock is purely mechanical. It has two switches to detect operation but there is no inhibit either mechanical or electrical.
2&3) I've seen something similar on a Mk4 Golf (same locks)

How's the lock feel? Stiff? I would start by applying some oil directly into the lock cylinder and again around the door catch on the side of the door. There are a lot of mechanical bits that get moved about when you turn the key, some of which are designed with springs to push other parts back or forward. Dirt and grime can hinder this movement which is why a good coating of oil will help.

Also try using the locks on the passenger door (if you have one - mine doesn't) or tailgate (if you haven't already) as these should also operate the Central Locking.  If these haven't been used for some time it is likely that they will also need lubricating and gentle operation.

PS: I also think your English is very good.  Certainly a lot better than I would do in any other language!

Thanks to both of you for your quick advice.

Mirez, yes the lock is sitff and the key can't go right(it is very hard). I have tried using wd40 in order to clean all the dirt, but i will take your advice and i will try to insert sum oil and if that doesn't work i will remove the handle to check it out.

SilverBeast, actually i am using the passanger's door to lock/unlock. Unfortunaly this is the only way for now.

I will write soon.

Thank you once again !

Best wishes,
Kostadin

Hi guys,

I just want to tell you that the problem has been solve yet. The way i did it:
1. A lot of WD40 sprayed in the lock in the course of 2 days.
2. On the third day i sprayed a bit oil (Total 5w40). I used syringe to do it.

The result did not appear at the moment. Few days later the lock was spinning lightly. The final result is that the lock has been working for two weeks yet(i hope it will not do the problem again).

Thanks again for your posts.

Regards,
Kostadin
