MK2 Galaxy Central Locking All Messed Up....

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and I have a strange issue with my Galaxy. The central locking has gone all weird, the drivers door doesn't seem in sync with the rest of the doors. When I press unlock on the keyfob, all other doors unlock, but the drivers door remains locked. If I press again, all the other doors lock, but the drivers door unlocks. One more key press will then unlock the other doors.

It is though the system is out of sync. I have checked the wires under the gaitor and they all appear ok. I have also disconnected the battery and this doesn't seem to have cured the fault.

The only other thing that has changed, is that I can no longer open the door with the key, it just seems to turn, but not engage anything in the door. I haven't had a chance to strip the panel off and have a look, but could that possibly be related?

Any advice would be appreciated  :)

You will probably need a kit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-GALAXY-SHARAN-ALHAMBRA-DOOR-LOCK-REPAIR-KIT-/140480263231?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3ASharan&hash=item20b546b43f
to repair the outer handle.

To remove the outer door handle open the door and look down the edge of the door for a single torx head screw level with the handle, remove the screw then slide handle forward then pull handle out of the door.

Thanks Chris, I will look into that. Do you think that could be affecting the central locking? Would it have put it all out of sync?

It can affect operation if the paddle that operates the lock has not stopped in the central (vertical) position, this can happen when the barrel/paddle are aligned due to wear/breakage .

Thanks Chris. I just stumbled across another post referring to Central locking issues and it mentioned an issue with the trip meter and fuse 32.

I checked fuse 32, it was blown, so I have changed it and now the central locking is all working fine! Who would have thought that 1 fuse could have caused that....

Just need to pop the lock out and have a look at why the key won't operate it.
