Hi,

Was wondering whether I could transfer Sharan seats with isofix into the MK2 Galaxy?

Unless there is another way to get isofix seats? Doesn't look like Ford did any for MK2ââ,¬â,,¢s.

Hi, yes they'll fit fine. Mk1 and Mk2 seats from all three manufactures are fully interchangeable. The only thing to watch out for is the middle seat of the centre row as the seatbelt changes from a lap belt to a roof mount 3-pointer on the Mk2's. Also, note if you get a seat from a car that was a 6 seat version it will have armrests on the rears, they won't fit in the 7 seat configuration because of the space.

Great stuff. Thanks. I haven't actually brought the Galaxy yet. Trying to persuade other half that I'll be able to swap the seats for isofix versions.

Before I go for it, is there any reason why I shouldn't get the 2.8 V6 (apart from fuel costs and insurance).  Are they generally reliable motors, considering now it will be over 11 years old. Or better to go for boring 1.9 TDI?

Was just having a laugh. Was thinking, if I have to go large people carrier, at least the 2.8 would bring a smile to my face now and then...

The V6 is a fantastic engine (the same as used in the hot golf at the time) and is very reliable with 200K miles easily possible if maintained. The jokes above are likely to be because firstly, its a MPV so performance isn't utmost in most peoples minds and secondly its definitely a world apart when it comes to MPG. The V6 is generally said to return mid 20's where the diesels generally get mid 40's - its a bigger gulf then most models because of the galaxys weight. Horses for courses though, if you aren't doing big mileages then the offset isn't that much of a problem and I bet secretly a fair few of them would prefer a petrol ;)

I've had both the 2.8 and diesel variants and if Steph didn't use it as a commuting car then we would be back in the petrol camp :)

Iv got a mk2 2.3 petrol, get high 20's low 30's MPG and touch wood i think it's a fantastic engine
